10 - Philippine Christmas Gifts

Christmas, the day where people are having fun along with their friends and loved-ones. How was it feel to unexpectedly receive a gift from someone during Christmas? Did it made your day? I think most of us did, but did you know, it's better to give than to receive. One of the best feeling that everyone has experienced during Christmas was that our gifts were being appreciated, because Christmas is the only day where elegant things get cheaper, celebration is much longer, and where most people are happier.

I think the only hard thing in giving a present is that deciding on which only item we think that would suit for someone, who we think is the right person who’ll appreciate the gift that we will give to them. It is a big blessing for us to have the Christmas holiday because we could buy things as many as we want. Many high-priced things become cheaper. High-priced products tend to be beautiful for its high quality made, we would definitely appreciate it, if someone got us some of that lovely gift.

Christmas Day usually takes a week before we moved on to the next holiday: New Year’s Eve. The Christmas celebration last longer. Even though the Christmas Day has already passed, we could still see some Christmas decorations that were hanging on some of our neighbor’s houses. If someone gave you a present during Christmas, their essence in that gift would actually might last longer as well. That’s why some say that Christmas is better than birthdays because celebrating birthdays doesn’t last longer, for instance, we only celebrated my birthday today, and the next day would be much different.

Philippines is one of the largest Christian country on Earth. A lot of people celebrates Christmas: The date which reminds us the birth and the love of Jesus Christ, and the date where people give love to one another. Christmas is the day where gifts are much enjoyed, so I certainly believed that no one should passed through Christmas without experiencing of having a gift.

Before this essay ends, I want you to remember this: Christmas doesn’t requires our gifts to be tangible, it could be our time and service for helping the others. Any gifts can be well-appreciated, as long as we are willing to give it to someone without waiting for a payment, because giving is loving.

  1. I agree. The spirit of Christmas is felt when we help others and spend time with our loved ones. We shouldn't dwell on the number of gifts we receive. Thank you for your eye-openning blog post.
