INFOSEC - Learning Week Log 7 - 8

It has been 8 weeks since our first INFOSEC class, but I am still hungry for knowledge. Having a great professor, awesomely trusted teammates, and useful lessons are what make the class interesting. In the previous weeks, our Sir Justin have discussed about privacy, policy, piracy, and laws. There is one thing that I always keep in mind, and it is never to talk and to trust strangers.

I knew hackers as people who were very intelligent on cracking up systems, but I did not know that they also had an ability to gain trust from people who they wanted to be hacked by them, and they could also be a stalker. By the time the little—or what I knew as irrelevant—information they needed was enough, they could now start their hideous activity, which involved stealing someones account and disguised as the stolen account's user. After I have learned about it from our INFOSEC class, I immediately changed the privacy settings of my Facebook account to which no one could see my birth date, home address, phone number and email address.

As for me, learning cryptography is pretty damn hard especially when it involves puzzling algorithms; I can barely decipher a simply encrypted message. It takes time and passion for it to be learned.
