INFOSEC - Learning Log Week 1-2

In the first day of class, our professor in INFOSEC class discussed about what an Information Security really means. I thought INFOSEC was only for the security of the data in the network, but I have now realized that it was also used in real life scenarios. Our actions are information, and anything that exists in this whole universe is an information.

There are information that are not supposed to be known by other people; our personal information and our privacy are examples that shall not be shared because those can be used by bad people in order to bring us down, and that is why INFOSEC is created. Information Security is badly needed in this generation because with only a click of a button we are able to see others information and mistakenly share our personal information in the internet.

Millions of people have become victims because of their ignorance. My google account, for example, have been hacked because of my own ignorance and I almost lost my $100; however, I was able to quickly recover it.
We had a group presentation. It was about giving a possible solution to the case that was given to us. The case talks about a grocery store that has lost Php10,000 because of the employee's dishonesty.

Sir Pineda also discussed about the authorization and authentication for accessing files. From what I have learned, authorization of a user only happens after an authentication. Authentication asks for your identity, whereas authorization gives us a privilege to gain access.
